Thank you, Ponchonutty! That is very helpful information. I will contact some local dealers and see what they say. Hopefully I can find a shop that does good work, and won't try to rip me off.

The installer wasn't the one asking about the bypass...lol, it was my friend that just mentioned that I should find out if I need one. Basically suggested I do my homework first.

Also, what's the average installation cost that I should expect to be quoted for a remote start installation?

Sure no problem. Also, any good shop that takes pride in their shop will allow you to see their work. If they refuse, leave. Also, if you can talk to some of the installers, ask what they have in their rides. 9/10 times you will find they recommend what they have in their ride because they know it inside and out which ends in a better, more trouble free install.
