I have a 03 yukon denali with 6.0 roughly 176k. It's the wife's truck so I'm not sure about exact details of what happened. But she got engine over heated and low coolant she got coolant ASAP. Engine would turn over occasionally. She wS able to get it home. I had same no crank. Found oil level over full and chocolate or coffee looking. Got truck to start moved in to garage. Pulled fan and plugs. Plugs are dry water pump turns free and is tight. Took a few cranks with plugs removed but it turns free now no fluid coming from cylinders. Is this a head gasket or possiable a intake gasket issue. As far as I got before having to leave for work any help or suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks Aaron

There is no coolant through the intake so it's a head gasket or cracked head.

There was a TSB about porous cylinder heads manufactured by Castech.

I think at this point if the engine was overheated to the point it would not crank you need to replace the entire assembly

That's what I thought about the intake. Just had read a lot anout intake gasket issues. I'm think the crank issues related to level In the oil pan. Only thing dismissing that theory is that no fluid coming out of cylinders. Thanks for info, do they crack any where or is there a area more prone to damage

Thanks for link. I had stumbled upon that article in my early research. It seems to only show the 4.8 and 5.3s defiantly still going to have to have them checked. Will have to check my vin as well see if its the tsb for sure.. Going to try to get a compression test done within the next few days.

cylinder one was only cylinder with a wet plug.
cylinder 1 180psi
cylinder 3 135psi wet and dry
cylinder 5 175psi
cylinder 7 175psi
Cylinder 2 175psi
cylinder 4 175psi
cylinder 6 175 psi
cylinder 8 175 psi
Seems to me that cylinder 3 lost a head gasket seal

Made some progress on diagnosing the issue. Now to get engine on a stand and open it up.

Cylinder 1 was down in compression oil full of coolant. Plan is to pull heads clean inspect same with pan if all good change out seals. Same with diff and t-case an prob drop a trans go In trans.
Really it have just been looking for a reason to get in the garage and this happened and I love the truck so said what the hell go throw the major components and clean up the pounds of grease and oil from chassis. New England kills trucks.
