I will be pulling my motor out of my 96 and will more than likely do a 383 stroker. I hear that installing headers while the motor is still in is very tough, with me having my motor out, would it be possible to install the headers and motor at the same time and it just slip right in?

headman shorty headers and I got the stroker block from S&J engines out of WA
The only problem is that im pissed because it feels like it has less power from 350. I do not remember what cam they put in ethier.

I had heard this from someone who installed them on their 97' 2wd Sierra. But I am hoping for an easier install once my motor is out

Headers shouldnt be a big problem to put in with the motor in. Just take some stuff out for elbow room and go slow. And for the elbow room i mean the air box and the tube and other little things. They should slide down into "their" spot farely easy. Im doing some headers in like a week with a 3 inch exhaust, shouldnt take but a few hours. Ive done headers before though...

Doesn't Doug Thorley make some really nice Tri Y headers for these trucks? I had one on Samurai and was very happy
