Some parts you can cheap out on, but when it comes to headers you really do get what you pay for. A good high quality stainless set will set you back close to 1k. Or you can buy a steel set with a good ceramic coating. or the bottom of the barrel brand with high temp paint. If you plan on keeping your truck for the next 5+ years, buy the stainless set. if you change vehicles every few years save your money buy the less expensive set. It's up to you and how deep your pocket book is. Along with headers you will need a Y pipe (if the headers don't come with one) new cats and a hook up to your exhaust system or a new system all together.

If money was no object I would have spent the money on a set of Kook's headers and there 3" catted Y Pipe

Well thanks for the advise. My pocket book isnt that deep yet so I guess ill just have to hold off on those for now. Was hoping I could get some before I got my new system on, but oh well. What would be a good brand to get? For my future refence. Ive been sitting here at work looking all night and just dont knoow. Im really dont know that much about headers.

Check out obx headers. Cannot speak for quality but they are stainless and under $300. These should bolt right up to the factory exhaust.

When choosing a y-pipe, what is the benefit? It looks like it restricts the two separate exhaust into one, which to me, would make for less flow. Maybe I'm wrong.

The smart people cut the the 2 into 1 off and run duals from there

FRICK! Those calspeeds look pretty good, I've read good reviews with OBX's except the welds could be a little nicer. I myself went with Pacesetters, I am regretting not getting stainless :/ I think Pacesetters stainless were about 4-500? Mine fit wonderfully, when doing headers make sure to use some good think copper gaskets to prevent leakage, install following directions and than recheck bolts every few trips. Also while ordering pay attention to if they have egr port, o2 sensor bungs etc etc.

I posted a thread with my whole new exhaust setup with a video if your interested. A y-pipe doesn't necessarily restrict flow, just converts dual into single exhaust for easier routing and less piping.
