Hey all, in my other intro thread I mentioned that my 2500 burb was a fire chief's vehicle. In the headliner, I have a giant hole that was used for equipment at one point in its life. Now, its just a gaping hole where I can touch the roof...and in the summer it gets hot! I thought about putting my CB up there, but it just doesnt work. The Uniden I bought was too big, and the midland unit I already have is too small. I'd like to just put a cubby of some sort up there....or I am not opposed to any sort of tech like a raspberry pi w/ a display. Maybe use it in conjunction with a backup camera. Any thoughts or previous experience?

I'd go to a local junk yard and see if they have a burban with the headliner. It should be pretty cheap.

You could always cut out a piece of cardboard, or something similar, to fit the hole, buy headliner material from the auto parts store, cover that piece with the material, then glue it in place. Simple and effective.

^ Definitely find a headliner / upholstery shop. They can fix it and make it look pretty good, for not a whole lot of money. Save them time and you money by taking out most of the trim first so they can just remove it & get to work.

There area also universal overhead consoles you can look into, either that or look for a long overhead console from a different vehicle and retrofit it for the hoe. When I had a crown vic, I put in an overhead console from an explorer, wired it up and all. not saying to use the same one but it could be your chance to add something with a bit more storage up there
