Active Fuel Management = V8 to V4 mode.

It cuts 4 cylinders off under certain driving conditions to "save fuel".

It causes way more issues than it is worth or will save you in fuel economy.

You can turn AFM Off with a tuner or a range device but with the mileage on those trucks, if the AFM has been active, the potential damage may already be done.... Just my opinion... YMMV

If you do get one with AFM do yourself a favor and get a Diablo sport tuner or something of the sort and turn it off to hopefully save yourself the money and headaches later on down the road.

Some people never have problems, some do. I am always leary about how well someone else maintained and serviced their vehicle. If the oil was changed religiously then the AFM may be fine, if not and those lifters are sludged up then it is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.

On a positive note, if you are into tinkering and modifying and getting more power then when the lifters go bad and take the camshaft out then you will have a great excuse to install a bigger camshaft and eliminate all the AFM crap.

Something to think about. I'm liking the fact that I can get the Denali for $13,900 though.

So, would you guys feel comfy buying the Denali with plans of daily driving and family trips occasionally at 140k miles vs the well maintained 2010 Tahoe LT with 98000 miles?

Double check on the AFM and see if that truck has it. I know the Silverados didn't have it until 2014 but maybe the SUVs are different. I just don't want to give you bad info that you base your decision to buy on.

Definitely a big difference in miles. Do you have any desire for having 4 or awd? That would be a biggie for me.

The 6.2 is a beast, and, when cared for, can easily double (and then some) the miles that are on it now.
