Hi Guys,

I just got a 2016 Yukon SLT and I love the truck! So easy to drive and extremely comfortable. So far everything seems to be working well, but I noticed a few things and I was wondering if they are normal.

I noticed the blind spot monitoring / lane change alert system only turns on when a vehicle is entering or already in my blind spot. I thought it was supposed to turn on for vehicles in your blind spot and about to come up on you? I did read it may need time to calibrate, but I have 600 miles on the truck. How much time does it need?

Also, I noticed the rear brake lines appear to be running below the axle on the driver side rear. Is this normal? It seems like a really bad idea since things can get caught on them pretty easy.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Blind spot is just that. It's alerting you that something is in your blind spot. As far as the brake line, I'm not sure but that does sound like a bad idea

Not sure about blind spot but those cables running under the rear axle are part of the parking brake. The lines run straight up to your foot actuated parking brake.

Glad to hear about the parking brake lines. I guess that makes sense, just seems like a poor design. I'm not taking the yukon off road so I'm not too worried about it.

As for the lane change alert and the blind spot monitoring, from reading the owners manual it indicates the light should illuminate when a fast approaching vehicle is coming up on me up to 230' away. That feature is not working. The blind spot monitoring feature is working.

I have my 30 day checkup in a bit so I'l bring it up to the dealer.

Thanks guys for the feedback and comments.
