Help! - '05 Yukon Gas Leak

I've seen at least one thread here regarding corroded fittings at the fuel lines on the top of the tank. You can do a search here for others that have had the problem or just go ahead and drop the tank since there's probably nothing you can do to fix it unless you do.

Edit: that link shows the same as what I saw here on this forum. No need to go search! So yeah, those fittings.

Just did some exploring under the truck...right where that support that holds up the tank goes (right in line with where the doors meet), on the top of the tank there feels like a indent there, it feels like a baseball size, and it's full of gas. It's definitely an indent that it meant to be there, but the gas is not.

...Am I really dropping the tank next? Gonna be a crappy night...

Wait ... what ... fuel??? I was looking at the pictures of the link I posted and that was a horror show!!

It looks like because of the design of the fuel tank ... water/snow and crap could get trapped up there?? if it did the fuel lines could be easily damaged ie rust?? Guess it does not happen enough for GM to change the design??

So it seems that more than likely ... your gonna need to drop the tank ... hope it's not full of fuel???

Sounds like what I had, ended up the whole sending unit was rotted out. Just bought a new pump and sending unit to be safe.

Also there is absolutely no way to dont wi Bout dropping tank, you can drop it a little bit to see what's wrong, but if it is rotted out, I wouldn't drop it until you are where it needs to be, last thing you need is to try dropping it and break any rotted lines. Been there.
