Ryan,

Very nice pics on the beach! You've got a beautiful Tahoe... I wouldn't get rid of that thing at all! Very nice color!

idk why people think those little tin cans are so safe. you can throw as much safety equipment as you want in a little car but imo it doesn't compare to overall mass and weight. also think about all the other massive trucks out there like h2s and suburbans. not to mention all the duallies and other big lifted trucks and how they would compare to a rav4 in a collision. a tahoe wont get you the same gas mileage as a rav 4 but i think your better off driving something you enjoy than something you are forced to drive for fuel mileage.

about 2 years ago when i retired my Silverado SS from daily driver duties i was looking for small cars like honda civics and cavaliers as a DD to save on gas. one morning i woke up and said wait why am i going to spend 10k on something im going to curse at everyday because it sucks just to save some $$ on gas. the next week i bought a OBS denali and a year later sold that for my 03 yukon. and i hear all the time why do you need 2 trucks. i tell everyone what i just said above

I feel super safe in my burban. I am on vacation borrowing a Ford focus. I really feel like I'm in a death trap waiting to happen. Keep the big ride. I always use the lug nut rule. If its got more lugs it will probably win haha good luck

Don't do it dude.. I had the same mind set as you! I was actually looking towards getting a smaller SUV for the mpg and maybe paying a bit less in auto insurance. But after doing some research on some smaller suv's, they seem to not meet my needs. I have a son on the way (need lots of room) I'm looking into doing some road trips later on (in witch im gonna need something with balls to tow a trailer with) and as my insurance rep told me: (its gonna take a big vehicle to do some damage to your truck in case of an accident) And best bet im willing to spend the extra $$$ on gas, insurance what ever it is to make sure my loved ones are safe. Now im actually looking into doing a BB tune and keeping my truck!:headbang:

lol. thats funny.

i do drive to portland once per week , but we take my wife's Nissan Altima. ... Last summer i spent 6 weeks in NE Portland for training courses for my job. I took my tahoe up a couple of times. ... but it definitely sounds like its twin. .... Keep the camera on your phone ready in case to see the truck again. :)

I was driving a tiny BMW X3 while my Yukon XL was having some work done for a week. My 2000 XL with 200k gets 12.75 mpg on average. When I first got into the BMW, I reset its mpg just to see the difference. 16.2 over the week. City grandma driving with a few highway short trips.

So for 3-4 mpg I was risking my life in a tiny SUV-car. Never again.

I'll take my 100.00+ fillups all day long knowing if/when the time comes, we'll be safe.

This is an easy debate.

No offense to BMW here, i've always loved the 7's, but if you're gonna put out a tiny suv at least give it the capability to get at least 25 mpg's. It would make more sense to the NorCal treehuggers that snarl at my lifted XL.

Sidenote- rented a Dodge Nitro a while back. I got 15-16 mpg's, so it's not just a "german" problem.

I will tip my cap to the Cadillac SRX though. It's a nice ride with decent mpg's (rented one on vacation) it got 24+ mpg's through a week. Don't know anything about their safety rating though.

YOu have kids.. and want something SMALLER? lol - I confused. :Wedgie:

all kidding aside - my 03 tahoe has 150k on it - and she is paid for. - we had an 08 Jeep Wrangler 4 door. too. Jusrt sold the jeep so I could give my wife my tahoe - and I can get a XL or suburban... These trucks are safe - and last forever. I'd keep what you got.

its going to cost you to get out of it- your not going to make that up in gas.
