2000 Chevy Tahoe Z71, I have the factory HU and AMP, all speakers cut out, at first, it was a bump or two then now it has progressed. To only once a month it may come. On for a few moments. I took HU out, checked all wires, took off all doors, and what is strange is that speakers were replaced and I took out the plastic enclosures... Now the speakers touch the actual metal on the doors.. I still have the connections and tweeters, and the sub is fine... I ordered an amp relay, but cannot. Fine where it is located. While going thru all spekers, the stereo came on load and clear for about 10 seconds,,,I was playing with the second to last switch on the back barn doors right side witth five push in pins....I was thinking to take off all door panels, remove the speakers but not unplug, just sit on seats to see if it's a grounding issue. When I put my tester in the speaker connections, both sides are hot, i.e. My dummy light comes on , on both the pos and neg....help...I don,t know what to do,,, the radio comes on, changes channels, the CD player turns fine,,clock works,,,, no sound.......any help is greatly appreciated...

Does that amp run off rca inputs? They notoriously go bad. Not familiar with the 2000 setup though

No, it has plastic plugs -two,,, odd thing is that when I took out speakers, to check all connections, the whole stereo started playing for about 10 seconds while. Messing with the drivers side back seat door speaker.... I know is has to be a short somewhere, or the relay,, which I cannot find anywhere..it's not a Bose,,,,, thanks so much for your input...?
