Ok so I installed a double din a couple years back and I used the metra gmos-04 to retain factory bose, chimes and on star. Well the other day I pulled the negative off the battery to work on the my rear heater and when I got everything working I went to shut off the truck and the stereo stayed on. My headrest monitors are powered through the stereo so those stay on as well. The stereo stays on and I have no sound. I still have door chimes but no sound from the stereo or on star. I tried reseting the head unit, checked all fuses and connections, everything's good there. The only thing i can narrow it down to is the gmos-04 crapped out but I would think the chimes wouldn't work as well, but they still function as normal. I've read online that these modules fail about 50% of the time. Anybody had this problem or can guide me in the right direction. I don't want to drop another $100 on one of these. Is there a better quality unit out there?

Thanks everybody! I

update on the issues i'm having. I took out the deck and hooked it up to a 12V car battery and an extra speaker that my neighbor had lying around and the radio worked like a champ. We went back into the Tahoe and tried to hook it up without the gmos-04. NO LUCK!!! tried to hook up the deck directly into the factory wiring harness and still no luck. I've even unplugged the amp and still the same problem. This weekend i'm going to try to get into a heated garage (ND isn't the warmest place this time of year) and hook it up directly to each speaker and hopefully i'll see what the problem is. I don't see all my speakers going out at once, but who knows. If anyone has any ideas of what to do, please let me know. thanks

Yea i just bought an new gmos-04 module and works again. I figured that was the culprit based on the symptoms and the horrible reviews I've read about these. New one with harness runs a little over a hundred. I just bought the module itself off ebay for $30.

Good to hear. I just might get another module and be on the safe side. You never know with these damn things. It's nice to finally have some sound again when I drive.
