did you remove the battery when you did all this work? maybe you didnt connect the ground tight?

also i think alternators are supposed to read the amps they are rated ie most of ours are 100amps plus..

Or the positive cable. Mine seems to loosen up once in a while, causing some wired stuff to happen when it does.

checked both terminals... tight as could be

ran to walgreens tonight to pick up some allergy meds and forgot my wallet... ran back home and got curious... popped the hood and revved the engine and watched all the lights dim... the alternator is 'whistling' low pitch at idle, high pitch as it gets up there, but maybe that is the new bearing? I know in my Impala when I had the alternator rebuilt it sounded different... cant hear the noise in the cab at all...

i also watched the RPMs and the lights dim at 2200 rpms on the dot... maybe its telling me to conserve fuel?

but on a more serious note... as I said Saturday I did all that work, no ill side effects seen while driving.... noticed the coolant reservoir was empty... checked the radiator, and that was fine... So Sunday when I got to my in-laws the truck was warm - its almost a 45 minute drive, so I checked the reservoir and it had a tiny little puddle in the bottom, so I topped it off where it should be at warm...

I DOUBT that would even make a difference, but just throwing it out there

Got it tested this morning - grandpa thinks its the voltage regulator... his meters all read great numbers - 100amp alternator even hit 115 - but as the throttle got up there the numbers all dropped like mad... hes going to rebuild my original core and we'll swap it out later this week
