I'm new to the forum and the new owner of a 04 yukon slt awd. I had the idlerarm pitmanarm and idlerarm bracket replaced the other day, (all moog parts btw). I went to pick it up the other night after hours of course. I start it up and start taking off and notice no steering wheel controls are working, the driver side air bag light is on and the DIC says service stability system and driver air bag. I asume they broke something in the steering colum. Any thoughts before I take it back? Thanks...

Sorry, I have no help to offer in regards to your technical issue, but I noticed you listed your truck to be an SLT "AWD"?????

It should be a 4x4, as only the DENALI is an All Wheel Drive.

If it wasn't like that when you dropped it off at the shop, I would take it back and explain the problem.
Did the shop perform and alignment on the truck? I remember a friend who is a tech, telling me about an issue of not properly centering the steering wheel and causing the wires to stretch and break or unplug the connector in the steering column. I'm not saying that is what is wrong, or even that this is the way our trucks are built; just something I remember from a previous conversation.

Thanks for the insight, that is one of the things that drive me crazy is not having a straight wheel. I took it back today and they said they will make it right. Also 500.00 in parts was orderd! sir coil, steering wheel position sensor and others to name a few! It was A hard lesson learned! Any othe insight would be great! The small shop does not have A rack for an alinement, I was going to take it else where for that..

thanks....

That's very cool for them to go ahead and make it right. I'm not doubting you at all, but as far as they know, the truck could have had those problems when you brought it in. So, even though they screwed up, the fact that they accepted the fault and are willing to fix it makes for good business and hopefully repeat customers. Glad it worked out for you.

Glad to hear you took it back and that the shop is going to make it right.

i'm leary of them doing such a complicated job with these sensors and the reprograming of the computer along with removing the airbag steering wheel and other componets. This truck had better be right!!!

I wasn't going to say anything, I was just hoping it would come out right. I wonder if they even have the capabilities to reprogram; they might do the work and have the dealer reprogram.
You never know, many smaller shops know dealer techs, and get things done on the side. I know several dealer techs, and they have smaller shops bringing in F-ups and jobs they can't handle often.
Give them a shot to make it right.
