I know this has been covered numerous times but I am still undecided on what HID's to buy for my fogs on my Esky Platinum.

Really need the fogs for when I venture upstate where there are zero street lights, I want them as bright as possible.

So my question is what color is closest to the factory LED head lights and what wattage ballast 35 or 55W? I am assuming 55W.....

Lastly how are the kits on Ebay? I see many kits (US Sellers) selling kits with 2 year warranty's, one even had lifetime warranty for 30-40$ with shipping. I want to get this ordered asap so please let me know what road I should take.

Sorry one more question, has anyone instaled an LED light bar behind their grill? I am looking for something to brighten up the dark roads. Years ago when I had my navigator I bought these old style Road Boy 6" fog lights which I mounted behind the grill. I then installed Bi Xenon HID which my friend wired them on high. This is what I am trying to duplicate. I am looking for ideas.....Have to check to see how much room I have behind my grill first.

5000k hid 35 watt will match well. a kit that costs 40 bucks is junk. I sell my hids for 150 installed here in ny where you can get them for 50 and still have a ton of customers because they want quality. eBay warranties mean nothing when it comes to hid. Go with a shop you trust or a website that has been around the last 5 years when the QC process has changed dramatically.

I bought 25 watt HIDs @ 6000k to match my headlights. I read that 35 watt kits melt the plastic lenses.

I was on Cadillac Forums and someone posted something about melting a lense but then there were dozens of others who went with 55w's and no one had a problem....This is why I am asking. I am lost!

What brand do I go with? There are several sellers on ebay with thousands of positive feedback and offer two year warrantys so I will try one of them out. WTF do I have to lose??

If 35w burns/melts the housing, then an extra 20w will def do the same. I would def go 25w if I were you.

I read on this site to stick with 25w but then on that site everyone has the 55w!!! How can that be? I dont want any issues nor can I afford to be buying new housings every other week! lol

But I am looking for functionality not looks, I need it brite so I want the brightest as possible w/o an issue.

Then def go with 25w. Think about it the more wattage the more heat output. Hence why 25w is the way to go.

I have installed 35w in the escalade many times over with no issue. The melting may have been due to a poor install. The key to remember in any fog is that you use them while traveling not sitting in a gas station for hours melting your housings. I have 35 watt in my yukon fogs with no melting, you just have to know what your doing. Sorry I can't recommend a ebay kit as I don't know what your going to get. They all sell something different. I would never buy sight unseen. I have been installing hid's for over 14 years and it has changed drastically.

I will tell you that the bulbs are a big quality difference area. You want one with a ceramic base for heat displacement. I can send you a set if need be but it would be 4300k as the bulbs are better made than the 5 k I get.

I had hid's in my esky fogs and it never melted the housing (although one of my hid ballasts did go out though). I never kept them on long since I knew about the issue but it definitely does happen quite a bit.
