I circled the areas in that first pic that would appear to be instances of glare. Of course, it's tough to say since it's aimed at a pillar. The 2nd pic is one from another thread here (http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=12716&postcount=6), and this is in reflector housings on an 800. I circled the areas that are indeed glare. These may not look like much, but it's enough to blind another driver on the road.

The 09's, if you hadn't told me, I would have thought they were in projectors. That's a nice beam pattern.

The other 2 pics are of my GC that I had projectors retrofit into, and yes...I've got REAL halo's in there around the Highs.

I'm new to this forum as I just purchased my '03 Denali, but I've been around HID's for a few years now, and installed several sets. There is a LOT of glare in Rollin Thunder's pics. However, glare itself isn't necessarily bad to oncoming drivers. It depends on where it's going, and a lot of his is coming up (you can tell by the glare on the camera from the photo). If it's already a fairly high vehicle, it may not cause much problem for on-coming traffic.

On the other hand, MikeTheApeMan has really great cut-off, and it's easy to tell he's using projectors. That looks really good, and that is what I'm looking to achieve with my Denali.

I need to get new headlight housings because when I bought it they were pretty beat up and have filled holes on them. I don't like the majority of the aftermarket housings that I'm finding. I don't want a gazillion LED's or anything like that. HALO's I can live with, but I just want a quality housing with quality projectors. Anyone have suggestions?

And what brand HID's is everyone running? I've got a couple favorites, but I'm curious what the truck people like and if it's the same.

I also used to run HIR's in my high-beams on my old car, and those things are pretty incredible. Do they make an 880 HIR for the fogs?

Thanks for the help.

What are HIR's? and how do they differ from HID's?

HIR=Halogen Infrared Reflection

Fancy way to say it uses the shape of the bulb to refocus heat from itself onto the filament, creating a brighter light with the same power. They are essentially halogen bulbs, not HID's at all. They require no warm-up and are something like 20% brighter then most standard halogen bulbs, so they are a good high-beam replacement.

Only problem with them is the color tends to be that of a standard halogen bulb, so if you're running 8000K HID's they aren't going to match.

Most people around here are running HID Kits from DDM Tuning. The ones in my Grand are from retro solutions. Todd did the retrofit for me on those.

I think HIR's also have some kind of coating that reflects the light back at the filament, allowing it to get brighter.

HIDs from DDMtuning

X2!

That's where I got mine from and I love them...I have 4500k in my lows and fogs, I also have them in my wifes lows and fogs in her solara. I wasted too much money in the past with ebay hids and I learned my lesson.

No HIR for the fogs. HIR's only come in 2 flavors, basically one that can be modded for 9006, one can be modded for 9005. (By modded, you trim the tabs a little bit.) Found these projectors for your truck, same brand as what I'm running in my 'hoe.

Depo's usually don't have halo's or LED's. Might just be what the doctor ordered....

And Coopie? Did you say you have or need projectors? If you need them....

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

And I'll x3 DDM Tuning and DDM/Apexcone HID's. I ran 2 sets in my old car and it looked really good, and was crazy bright since all 4 lights were 55w ;)
