what did you pack around the "cove" where the tube actually sits in? that part pisses me off with my CAI

I had some 1" foam stuff laying around. What i made the lid out of.

Very creative. Love to see stuff thought of outside of the box. I had been thinking of insulating my Volant box to help lower the intake temps some....good job.

If you do that it will raise the AIT, it will store heat

Be careful to not hit any big puddles or your "custom" CAI will pull up water and kill your engine.
