how do I know what size tires to buy

I have chrome 6x5.5 rims that are stock off a seirra they're 17 inch but I don't know what size tire to buy. I think it's 265 or 275. how can I tell. thanks

if there stock rims look up the stock tire size that came with tthe vehicle but if i had guess to they prolly 265/75r17

I'm pretty sure the stock size would be 265/70/17

i was guessin man but hey i was pretty close besides
the 75r17s will have a little taller sidewall

that's the only problem, I'm not sure exactly what they came off of

Probably a 17x7 or 17x7.5 rim, can most likely run anything from a 245/75/17 (31") up to a 285/70/17 (33"), depends on how much clearance you have, on what type of vehicle.
