Just doing the bushings and ball joints. How long has it taken you guys to get them off and then back on?

I am going to start on it tonight, but want to make sure the truck is back together by Saturday. The family is taking a vacation to Tahoe for a week.

If you have EVERYTHING lined up, you have the right tools and prior experience doing this job it could take an afternoon. If you have the tools, a book and good mechanical skills then a weekend is reasonable. It took me a weekend to do upper and lower ball joints, upper and lower bushings, a set of lowering spindles and new brake rotors ... mine is a 2wd.

I have a friend with prior experience, and I am pretty mechanically inclined. I have a shop ready to press the bushings out/in.

The only issue is that looking through the manuals, I don't have Torsion Bar Tool, but I have all the other tools.

You need a ball joint press. I went through hell replacing mine on a 98 k2500. I had to cut the old bushings out and used heat when pressing new ones back in. The ball joints came out easy but I needed a press to put new ones back in. Good luck.

No "How To" write up on this?

Is a press the only specialty tool needed for this?
Will a ball joint press work?

Thanks
