I run RP in all our vehicles and K&N filters. I change the filter at 3500mi and then do a full change at around 7K more or less and things have worked out great!

I also run about 3000 to 4000 then install a new filter. I change out the oil at around 7000. I run Mobil 1 synthetic.

I run Mob1 and change between 4-5K. At 3K miles my onboard computer still says 56% oil life left so I'm rolling with that

I only use AMSOIL and have been for more than 20 yrs. I change oil once per year, every fall. Last year I put about 15,000 miles on my 2008 GMC SLT E. Cab Z71 used in my business. No 0W-30 oil was added to it and no filters were changed. I use the AMSOIL EaO oil filter and have an Injen Cold Air Intake that came with an AMSOIL Air Filter. I have been doing this for over 20 yrs. and while the initial cost is more than regular oil, it pays for itself in less oil changes and filters and is good for my engine. Matter of fact, every lube in the GMC is synthetic, engine, trans, TC, PS and both axles where changed over before truck had 5,000 miles on it, this engine at 1,000 miles.

I know its hard for people to break the habit of changing oil every 3 months or 3,000 miles etc. They love doing it and it gives them a feeling they are doing something to protect their investment but all they are doing it wasting their money. Even changing before 5,000 miles or 1 yr is wasting their money. Its not cheap insurance, as many like to say.

If your vehicle did not come factory filled with synthetic oil, the OLM will calculate based on mineral oil and not synthetic oil. Even GM admits synthetic will last longer and protect better than mineral oil and sets the Oil Life Monitor (OLM) to account for this. GM factory fills every new Cadillac (since 2005) with synthetic oil and coming soon you will find many more GM vehicles factory filled with synthetic oil because starting in 2011 the oil standards (DEXOS) are going way up and its predicted that only synthetic oils will meet these new standards. BTW-Failure to use synthetic oil in the Cadillac will void the power train warranty.

If anyone wants to know what I all use in the truck, you can PM me.

4-6K depending on duty and environmental conditions.
I live in a dusty environ, and do a lot of stop n go, but don't tow regularly.

The computer is a good guideline, it uses hours, rpm and load to calculate oil life expectancy.

I use 0w30 German Castrol and change it when the oil life monitor gets to 10% or after 7500 miles.

Thanks guys.
I'm gonna wait longer before I do it again.
I've driven it 2000 miles in 3 months.
I've got a ways to go before I change it.

synthetic oil changes

When I first bought my truck I did an oil change and I put in Royal Purple Full Synthetic Oil.
I'm coming up on 3 months and was wondering how often everyone else with Sythetic Oil changes it.

I use Amsoil 5w30 and also use it in everything (engine ) I own for the last 11 years ,it works great . In my 2000 Tahoe I change it every 8-10k miles and it is still tested good.

I have only used OEM or FRAM oil filters, but am always amazed at how small the filters are (like a small coffee cup). Do other brands have larger filters (longer given the space limitations on circumference)? 02 Yukon 5.3L 4x4. Contemplating full synth motor oil, but the tiny oil filter makes me hesitate as I would expect them to be the limiting factor on change intervals. If changing just the filter, without emptying oil first, don't you lose alot of oil?
