I just soldered a ring terminal onto a 10ga stranded wire...I'm not sure it'll really matter how the wire is connected but I like to solder everything...lol...

Morgan Hill reception is crap even with a stock antenna in the stock location. I pick up everything now...

Larger gauge wire seems to help a little. I did try speaker wire first & it was about as good as the stock antenna.

That looks like what I did only with lighter ga. wire. Did you do anything special with the other end of the wire? Is it contacting the body? Did you strip back some of the insulation at the other end?

I must be doing something wrong, because I lost a bunch of stations!

I left the insulation on...only stripped back enough to solder on the ring terminal. The wire is about 3.5' long total...runs up the angled portion than about a foot horizontally along the roof line...

The only place the wire touches anything other than weatherstripping is where it connects to the antenna base.

When you set the weather stepping back does it seal right our do you ruin it by taking it out? Also how do you get it up? Flathead screw driver?

I think some of you guys think this is harder that it is...you're not compromising the weatherstripping @ all...not peeling it back or anything. The weatherstripping will fold back easily & just slip the wire right in...just took this pic...

I didnt put it in the door weather seal. I put the wire in between the windshield and the windshield molding. It moves a little so you can stick the wire in there. Maybe thats why i get better reception, cause its not near any of the metal on the Yukon except at the antenna base???

Just did this!!!!

I just did this over my lunch break!!!! SO EASY and still sounds great. Make sure you ground it or reception will fade. I also got rid of the onstar antenna on the back window. Looks so much better.
Thanks for the idea! I'll post some pics later.
