recent things I heard it could be was pinion N seal or front wheel bearings ..

Sent from my iPhone 4S

Yes, a bad rear seal/pinion bearing could make a similar noise. I just didn't mention it to chad because he just had his diff replaced. It just seems to me that the hubs are more common. they seem to start going bad a little after 100k on most trucks. Being out of alignment for any amount of time, and even road salt from the northern states seem to make it a ton worse too.

I've had that same howling noise as described with the OP for about a year. Not getting any worse, but I finally noticed that the rear pinion seal was leaking. I am also due for U-joints and a rear fluid change. Saving for the parts now...but buying a house at the very moment and this is taking a sideline. Glad I only drive her weekends for now. If my local mechanic can swing me a good deal, maybe I'll have him do it. I am limited on time too, not to mention it's starting to get colder in Jersey!

Hey man let me know how long it should take to do that. I know the parts for the bearings an seals will run you close to 300 an from what I've heard its best to get some synthetic fluid in there,I Live Up in Massachusetts so I no about the cold weather it's ridiculous
