Anyone got a write up on how to replace a hub?

not sure if its like my 96 was or not, havent had the time to dig in to it

03 z71 hoe, 4wd

and i thought there used to be a link to the chilton manual online but i cant seem to find that

I replaced both of mine a few months ago and to be honest if you have some mechanical background and the right tools you should be okay. I did a search for you on google and there is just to many results that come up. Do the same and scan through them they will give you some ideas. I guess the only few things i recommend is to have an air compressor if possible for the big axle nut and a torx 55 for the brake caliper. Those are the two items i had to purchase prior to me doing my swap. More then that sockets, extensions and a swivel. Good luck

Go on youtube and type in hub bearing or assembly replacement for your vehicle. The site will show you how to change out the hubs. I have changed mine out on my 01 tahoe and once you figure it out its easy to do.

i bought a haynes manual earlier when i picked up the hub, i was just more curious i guess abuot special tools like the torx is a good thing to know, i kinda figured its basically just like the 96 but wasnt too sure, but thanks vin

I have the factory (from Helms) service manual. It says to unload the torsion bar, but I found that not to be necessary, just lift it under the control arm.

Another note, hopefully it's not too late, make sure the hub has good quality bearings in it (made in USA). Otherwise you will be doing that job again in a year.
