I think this truck is really worth keeping and I'm feeling better about it after reading through the GreenHybrid site. Your situation with the cold weather seems to be why I panicked. I actually drove mine to the dealer but within 1 mile of the dealer it started working fine. Probably as you described. It just got warm enough to be happy.

I'll also confirm the cold situation. Takes a bit longer to warm and once it does it seems to go into autostop fairly easy. The only thing I've had an issue with is the burning oil with white smoke but that's more of all these motors issue. I replaced a misfiring plug and a newly designed valve cover and all is well. Maybe we should start a new hybrid thread on here for us with over 100,000 miles. Might already exist though....

Yes, even my dealer was surprised at the mileage and they know I do most of it towing a car and trailer. No oil issues. No smoke. The front diff was leaking and I did change the shocks early on. Otherwise I love it.

I wish they were still making hybrid tahoes. Two best mods yet are adding bluetooth vcim and projector retrofit. Keep us up to speed on anything new happening or questions.

JIMR - that sounds very good. Since last winter I've had no problems with it. Once the check engine light came on and it wouldn't start. I had the radio on, charging a cell phone and not running the engine. Said I had to repair the stability system (or something like that). Let it sit for a bit and jumped it with a portable starter battery and all is fine. I think the computer got confused. I did need a front diff seal but didn't flush the tranny. If I remember correctly, it doesn't even require it or it was very expensive - just don't remember. Right now it has 125k miles. Pretty consistent 19.5 mpg with a heavy toolbox, spare and roof rack on it. I beat the piss out of it just having moved to the Poconos and generally treating it like a truck. I prefer to drive it instead of my wife's big MB. Definitely a keeper.

Batteries don't last forever, and at some point they will give up the ghost...with no warning at all.
