I think the ghost has stopped at my place. HyHoe is dead in the driveway. "Service Hybrid System" is the reading on the dash. From everything I could find here and at GreenHybrid, seems like the 300v battery is dead. All else good. If that is the problem, it's actually a good thing since I love the truck and a replacement will restore confidence. See previous posts.

GT3RR, what's the going rate for replacement(s)? I don't own a hybrid, just curious because a friend of mine got rid of his wife's Prius when it came due for a new battery/batteries. Toyota quoted him damn near what the car was worth to repair it, so he said the hell with it and gave the car away to someone who was willing to perform the repair.

Clean...I don't know yet but it seems anywhere from $2k to $3.5k. I'm guessing my wallet will be lighter by the higher number. As mentioned earlier, if it works out to be the battery, it's cheaper and less of a hassle to keep the truck. Besides, it's a great vehicle - I just need to be able to trust it. I'll check around in the back of the truck, there may be a prius or two back there!

I checked on refreshed batteries last year and my thinking is that $2500 plus some labor is about right for the refresh, assuming you don't have to have it towed to Dallas or somewhere else to have it done.

my 2009 HyHoe has 126k on it now I bought it with 118K in december. seems to be going great for me. though GT3RR what scanner did you use to get the battery life reading?
as for replacing the batteries i have hear of people doing individual testing of the battery cell and finding only one cell bad which kept the cost down. This is somehting im looking in to figuring out how to test as I have read that the batty life is around 150k miles.

I have been wondering about the catalytic converters. As we all know, they can burn out and become ineffective (I think they are ineffective from the factory on all vehicles) over time. Here in Oklahoma we can replace them without penalty after 75,000 miles if they wear out. They can effect mileage. They can get so hot that you can feel the heat through the floorboard and carpet. I have been thinking of replacing mine with high flow performance converters but hate to spend the money if the originals are still working well, which it appears they are, as the mileage is still good and I get no check engine lights at all. Has anyone had to replace theirs yet on their Hybrids?

I got a code for a bad cat a few weeks ago, cleared it and it didn't come back. Waiting to see if I actually need them done.
