Interesting. I find this new 10 speed to be great. We had an '11 suburban for almost 10 years (5.3 with a 6 speed tranny) and it was constantly hunting for gears and had to mash the gas to get that thing moving. Our '21 with a 5.3 and 10 speed drives so smooth in comparison. Accelerates great, no hunting for gears, shifts super smooth, tows well. No complaints from me

Sounds like Hill Descent Control. It's to keep the vehicle at or under speed so the brakes aren't needed to maintain it at that speed. This way, they're not heated and are more ready/effective should they be needed.

Sounds like typical GM slow/gentle/soft tuning. Having so many gears, it slowly and softly climbs back up through all of them until it eventually reaches the ideal gear for the speed and load. Their tuning kills many transmissions prematurely, especially those driven mostly in city/suburban settings, due to all the extra shifting.
I'm actually excited to read that the 10 Speed transmission has this. I have had 4 Duramax Sierra's with Allison Transmission. I was so hoping that this new transmission would do the same thing. I love not having to ride my brakes down a steep grade, especially when hauling a trailer. Excited to get mine, it's been ordered.

I have used it a couple times in mine on the hill to my house that is being built, it is currently dirt and at it's steepest 20 degrees according to the trucks display. I set it to 1mph and it holds it going down nicely.
