We tried that. It was held on by some special type of bolt that had a different name....I forgot what it was called, but it made removal impossible unless you could somehow get inside the molding and hold the bolts still.
You also have to remove the bolts for the wiper arm motor, which there's one or two on it that are hard to get to.
Overall it was WAY too difficult so I may just paint the inner bowtie black and leave a chrome ring or something.
