Okay so I admit when I am wrong... And I was wrong... I retested my rear shocks and they are shot. I educated myself on some different techniques of testing shocks and found mine to be bad... Not just bad but the drivers side shock was blown and the passengers sided was locked up. So I bought a pair of rebuilt shocks from Arnott industries and their ride is amazing. I have my old Tahoe back. I bought them from Ebay for $400 shipped then they reimburse me $50 once they get the cores back. My only snafu when replacing them was I knocked an ABS sensor line connector apart, it is located on the top of the frame rail, when I was loosening up my top shock mount bolt. This caused an ABS and Stabilitrac Error on my dash.

That is for re manufactured shocks. MSRP is $400 + per shock. These are for the electronic valving air leveling shocks. There is a $50 core charge also so $175 a side doesn't sound as bad. :)

65K on shocks and they were blown? I find that hard to believe unless the truck spent its whole life in NYC

Believe it. My front right went at @ 30K miles. Granted, I may have helped it with a front coil relocator kit. But, that kit was only for an inch of drop, which is supposed to not affect things...

I wonder what shock life depends on. Environment? driving habits? I've had shocks go 100k before I've replaced them and they were still doing their job but just felt like it was time to get new stuff on there.

shocks should only be replaced when rebound is shot, they leak or the ride is that bad...but with 65k on stock tires, I'm leaning on tires

my 05 denali with 63k still rides new

I live in the midwest so the salty roads in the winter time play havoc on vehicles. I was thinking for the rear shocks, that they are more likely to fail with the air ride leveling suspension because the vehicle is sitting at the same exact height every day. So you are constantly cycling the same inch of the shock, over and over? Just a thought.

and also, FYI...65k on stock tires = REPLACE THEM NOW! ;)

I actually think that they went out around 50k. I did replace the tires also.
