I have an odd noise. Very loud intermittent. Only when ac is active.

Noise happens in park at about 2000 rpm and only when I select AC on.

The other day I went to remove belt from ac pulleys. Determined I needed to remove wheel well liner. Got lazy/not enough that night and have just left the AC off this past week.

When I get time I will remove right front wheel and wheel well liner and remove ac accessory belt. I will manually rotate ac tensioner and inspect clutch assembly. (Inner/outer clutch thing?)

Did you ever figure out the cause of this? I have the same exact issue going on and a trying to diagnose whether it is a pulley, the clutch or the whole compressor. Got a big trip coming up and the wife isn't going to be too happy with me without A/C.

I haven't had time. You need to remove right front wheel.

Remove right front wheel fender.

Then unload ac belt tensioner and remove belt.

Than spin the tensioner to see if it makes noise.

Than I believe you spin the outer part if the clutch and the inside part is supposed to stay still. And the other way around.

I didnt take my wheel off. I replaced my tensioner from underneath the truck. Had to remove the belly plastic that was held on with 5 15mm bolts. Was able to reach everything from there.

The tensioner is super easy to replace and it is roughly a $10 part. I did this a while ago upon the suggestion of a shop that "diagnosed" the problem however it didn't make a bit of a difference. If I ever getting around to fixing this I will post the solution.

I thought that from the start but its hard to determine whats wrong if you cant gets your hands on the car. I hope its only the tensioner because I replace mine for $5.69

Also my rear air isn't getting cold, checked the actuators and they are working fine, I guess its all related to each other

Does it sound like a clacking or chattering sound? Kind of like a mini jackhammer? That's what my AC compressor sounded like when it started locking up. The AC still blew ice cold, but upon acceleration it was chattering really bad and keep breaking the AC belt and tensioner. I finally replaced the compressor and its been perfectly fine ever since.

Eventually I will replace AC compressor.

Winter is here in Ontario, well Fall is...Either way, AC can wait I think.
