He rebuilt a core he had. Pretty sure he used a PDQ Rebuild Kit. I'm also pretty sure his desire to fix it has lost him money. He should have cut his losses the 1st day and just replaced the pump and Torque Converter like I suggested. Sometimes you have to weigh the profit/loss differences and just move on.
Why would he replace those parts unless he’s pretty sure they’re bad? Those parts aren’t cheap, and any mechanic that throws parts at a problem aren’t worth a thing. I’m sure he’ll figure it out.

Well a rebuild on the pump and it still rattles so what would you do? Then another pump gets installed and he still hears some noise. So, he's thinking TC. So it comes out again and he's replacing the the TC. I asked him if he put a pressure gauge on it and he said "Uh, no. But we held our finger over the line and felt it pulse." I don't even think he has a pressure gauge.

Umm put his finger over it....

That is a little risky. If the pressure is failed to the high side, that's a great way to get atf pushed through your skin into soft tissue.....
LOL! Fluid at that pressure through a 3/8" diameter line blasting through his finger. Maybe he just held his hand on the line and used his mental powers to "feel" it pulse. I'm wondering what this guy is really doing at this point.

Alrighty then, here's the update at the end of day three. He told me after installing a new Torque Converter it still makes the same sound. So frustrated again he calls his "hotline" tech. The tech suggests it's the valve body. Say what? As far as I know the valve body doesn't do anything when it's in Park right? It only shifts the gears through passages and solenoid valves. So now he's got his builder putting together a whole different transmission. We'll never see our Yukon again! Of course his incentive is his newer Denali XL that's been sitting in our driveway for 3 days.....

Wow. Sounds like this guy learning to build tranys on your time. I get his reviews were solid on Google but 4L60s are more common than the Rona!! How he struggling to rebuild one leads me to side with the oder guy "wondering what the heck he really doing!?!?. I'm not a trans guy but I deal with repairs shops all day.

And you can't say tranny either! I agree the 4LSLIPPY is like the most prolific transmission out there. And this guy is in his 50's and claims to have been doing this for decades. So I really don't know whats going on.

Hopefully, at the end of this, all comes out ok. This has been a long strange trip for sure.
