Given your level of auto repair expertise ", which seems to be "beginner" (not an insult at all, just a matter of fact) coupled with lack of funds to simply outsource all repairs to a shop (which would probably set you back at least 10k to fix everything that's wrong with it and that assumes nothing else major goes wrong with it) I would seriously consider dumping the thing, cutting your losses and moving on.

Sucks as it seems like you may have been taken advantage of by the dealer who sold it to you but if nothing else, its a learning experience. I have had my share as well and those experiences are why I made the strategic decision years ago to invest in the time, tooling, etc to learn how to fix everything on a car or truck myself.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
I’m trying man.

@NickTransmissions I wanna show you one more thing, this noise I had. It happens at around 25-30 mph and seems to be right when I let off the gas and then apply the pedal again. And then it stops when it shifts it seems like too. I had a separate thread for it and there was a lot of answers for that, I’ll see if I can link that too. The rattling or grinding noise seems to have gotten less frequent and more quiet and that scares me too. It could be my brakes, maybe they are going out and something is like rubbing because sometimes when braking it feels like it rolls or the brakes like “wobble” or “pulse” like im applying brake pressure but it the braking is uneven and inconsistent, so maybe thats the grinding/rattling noise, but they don’t squeak unless it is wet out.

Thinking this noise could be the brakes or the one of the clutches or gears you mentioned giving away. I’ll link a video to the noise here below:

Rattle noise from front right of vehicle transmission , brakes?

@NickTransmissions heres an example of the vehicle “holding” gears. Here I’m applying normal throttle just to get up to speed and it kind of held itself at 2k, now this might have been due to cold and viscous fluid, it was around 20°F at the time But I’ll let you decide.

Here you go

Can’t recall if it was first or 2nd gear

Just sharing all I can to possibly narrow things down.

All links expire in two days I believe. Website is called streamable and it’s a safe video hosting site. Thanks for everyone’s feedback and time on my posts.

What will you do if the transmission simply stops working tomorrow?

A remanufactured transmission from GM, Jasper or another vendor is going to run $4500 or so just for the transmission...add in $1000 for removal/reinstallation as well as fluids and fast-adapt relearn puts you at $5500.00-$6000 (maybe higher depending upon shop pricing in your area). A shop rebuild will cost a similar amount assuming they perform all the required internal updates, etc to the trans.

So unless you're in a position to drop the coin or work on the unit yourself (you've emphatically stated that's not in the cards), it really doesn't matter what's going wrong with the transmission specifically.

Here's my advice:

1) Get it to a reputable transmission shop and have it diagnosed
2) If the trans shop tells you the same thing I have and you cannot afford to repair/replace it at this time, I'd park the vehicle for now so you can list it for sale while it's still running and driving vs driving it to failure
3) Repair anything else that won't cost a lot of money but would help you sell the vehicle quicker

btw that little bit of grease on the cooler line is pretty normal par for the course, it's not the cause for any loss of fluid unless you are getting so much seepage that it is leaving drops on the pavement under where you park. otherwise you can just spray some degreaser on it and wipe it off with a towel and carry on and just clean it up once in a while to keep a neat appearance or to get a better idea of how much or how little the seepage is. happens a lot right in the same spot where it is crimped from metal to rubber.

I mean I’m driving it until it really starts to go out, it’s my errand car, I’ve put 1500 on it or more so far.

Unfortunately I’m having troubles selling it. It’s financed, and I have it on a 6 year loan, i was honest and I listed the issues it has and im asking at least $13.5k…

I feel like someone who really likes Tahoes and has a lot of sore turn and knowledge can put time into this. I was lookin for something solid and reliable, But I just need something smaller and cheaper. It’s pretty simple, my first time at the dealership and I folded. I guess it happens I realize that now.

And yea at barely $25k a year I can’t afford to fix this thing, if you’re talking upwards of $10k. That’s wild. unless I take out another loan. But I’m just digging a deeper hole at that rate.
