07 z71 will crank fine and almost be stuck crankingin the start position even if you rotate the key back. It wont ever start and fire on the first try, but if you try start position, off, then back to start it will usually start on the second try. Today my wife had several errands and had a couple cycles where it took 4 attempts before getting it to start.. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am a little confused. Are you saying that when it will not start you have the key in crank position and the engine cranks but will not start or the engine will not crank? And if you cycle the key the engine still cranks, like the first attempt, but then it does finally fire off and start.

What is important to remember is that an engine not starting statement needs to be clarified by saying it either cranks with no start of the engine or it does not crank.

Key to (start) all the way rotated forward to cranking position, engine cranks and cranks but does not fire. Then rotate key back to key off, rotate back forward to crank and it will fire and start.

*It cranks without starting, turn key back to off position and it will crank, fire, and start. Sometimes 2 cycles of this, sometimes more. Remote start acts similar in that it will crank without starting until you let off of the button, then push button again and it will crank, fire, and start.

it was cold yesterday and when she went out to start it in the morning, it fired right up but then later it was back to needing more than one cycle of on off on and fire. Anything?

Fuel related maybe? Try putting key in ignition on position letting it sit a little then crank. This just lets the fuel pump run a second more before crank.

Maybe the fuel pump or check to make sure the nut on the firewall for the positive cable is tight.
