Haven't been on in forever. Guess I was culled for being inactive? Anyway I signed back up. My current 'hoe is an '07 with a 5.3 flex fuel that has a cold air intake, cat back and tuned out DOD/AFM. Unfortunately, after over 140k of no DOD, the lifters failed anyways! :-(

Variable lifters can be forced to pretend that they are one mode lifters,
but even though this is good for them, they are still variable lifters.
Even with extra-often oil changes, they will never be as robust or as long-lived as simpler lifters.
