Same tired re-run, lifter on #7 is bad. Just trying to get creative, so don't stone me for this, but....

If I physically removed the pushrod and deactivated the injector, could the DME be flashed to tell it to run on 7 cylinders? With all of the coding pros out there, I'm wondering if it could be done?

If not....what would happen if I just rolled with no pushrod and no gas to the cylinder? Not gonna sink $3K into this car, but I still need one if there is a reasonable work-around.

Moved your thread to the 2007-2014 section until you come back on what year it is as..I am sure it is not a 2021.

Assuming you are 100% sure it is that one lifter and there is no other damage, it can be "fixed" for $70 and a day's work. One head gasket is about $40 and a set of bolts for one head is about $25. I'll ship you a used lifter. You may introduce intake and/or exhaust manifold leak(s) and maybe broken exhaust manifold bolts. But, that ~$70 is the bare minimum. Hell, I'll ship you some used exhaust manifold bolts if you wanna roll like that, too.

F'it! Go for it and let us know how it turns out? Just pull the harness off the injector and drive it as usual and see what happens. Im not goin to stone you, I simply want you to follow through with the idea and see how long it will go, And when it does grenade and it surely will, You will answer your own questions and you can post some pic's of the end result. There are many owners of the AFM and many would appreciate knowing what happens if you do nothing at all? In fact dont remove the pushrod, Just drive it.

Just kill fuel to it. It'll just pump air on that cylinder. I wouldnt pull push rod that'll leave a lifter bouncing off the cam lobe which would be bad if it bound up/ twisted in bore
