If you do actually stab your eyes out you won't need dash lights any more.

Problem solved! LOL

Now I can't see a dang thang...

Attatched is the photo. 30a mini that blows out every time I replace it, and start the engine. That slot shows PARK LP on the chart. Hope this photo is clear enough...

So it only blows once you start it?

Does it blow if you just turn the key to the run position or just turn the lights on?

Have you changed any of the dash lights to LED or anything?

And you said you have an aftermarket radio right? What color wire was pinched?

Did this just happen out of the blue without changing anything on the truck?

Yes, It goes out when I start the car...
When it first went out (the dash lights) I just pulled the cluster out and replaced the bulbs with regular bulbs, not LED.
The radio is Stock and I just pulled the radio out, and checked the connections and wires... An orange, and green wire wire kinked, and I just taped them back up.

Yes, it happened outta the blue. We went to the park, had some good ol' family time and when we headed home I started the vehicle and the dash lights flickered, and went out... Bummer...

It's a 2002 LS with know mods, or shnazzy upgrades, just the bare bones...

You didnt answer this question -

Does it blow if you just turn the key to the run position or just turn the lights on without starting it?

So ALL the bulbs went out at the same time and you pulled out the cluster and replaced the bulbs right? Was the fuse blown at that time or did it work at all after you changed the bulbs?

While the 2000-2006 are the same platform, there are enough electrical differences between 00-02 and 03-06 that can't be cross-referenced.

did you check to see that the bulbs were blown? or did you just replace them? if youre blowing a 30a fuse you have a dead short some place. meaning something that gets power when you start the engine is shorted. my son had a similar problem on a honda. car ran great but when he turned on the left blinker the car would die. found out it was a pinched wire on the left front turn signal in the fender. some how that fuse also controlled part of the ignition. it only took me a few mins to figure out but you have to start tracking down whats connected to that fuse gang. meaning where do the energized wires go once the car is running?

Replaced the fuse again - Turned the key, and POP! It popped without starting the engine... The fuse burned out... Pop is a bad word I guess

The short would need to be between the relay and the fuse in that case. Unless you have auto lights activating when you turn the key on. If so, I've seen pinched wires at the corner light points. Pull the tails and front corners and look for a pinched or exposed wire. If you've moved any panels or anything in the truck lately, check there.
The multi-meter would be of great help in looking for the short too.

HoeRoller - Thanks for the feedback. Your post did lead me to the discovery of two burned out bulbs... See the photo...

Still burnin' through fuses though. Too bad I'm an IT guy --- I wish I were a mechanic instead. More folks need cars fixed than websites built.

Either way I have learned a lot about my tahoe from the feedback provided in this forum.
