In what situations have you used 4L/4Low?

With my 02’ Tahoe, the only way to pull a heavy ski boat out of the lake from basically a very steep dirt road that went into the water was 4L. I would spin otherwise.
I have a question, on my 24’ 6.2 with 4 high and low, are the differentials locked in 4 low and limited slip in 4high?

You have to see which version differential your truck came with. The fronts are open. The rear can be a traditional G80 or an electric locker, I forget the RPO.

I thought the 21+ was only an electric locker that was only available with the Z71 off-road performance package or whatever they called it...was the G80 only available on non Z71 models or?

There is a mechanical limited slip (G86) and an electronic limited slip (G96). So, the G80 apparently is the code for the locking limited slip used in solid axles. I stand corrected!

Yes the G80 is locked or it's not locked. The G80 only came with the solid rear axle, it locks at wheel speed less then 20mph or 100 rpm differance between left and right wheel spinning. Alot of people don't know how use the G80 when there stuck as they mash the gas and exceed the 20mph wheel speed and it never locks, key to using a G80 is low wheel speed under 20mph and you will feel it engage.

A lot of people don't know how use the G80 when they're stuck, as they mash the gas and exceed the 20MpH wheel speed and it never locks.
Key to using a G80 is low wheel speed under 20MpH and you will feel it engage.
I read somewhere that it's possible to physically 'tune' the clocksprings in it to adjust the difference in wheelspin required,
as well as to raise the 'top speed' at which it will still lock.
Are either of these true? (Hopefully, both?)
