I installed an aftermarket head unit last week and everything was fine, I had sound from speakers. Tonight I plugged in pre out wires and a remote amp wire, and ran them to the back (currently not plugged into anything). After that I had no audio. I shut the yukon off, started it again and had audio. Shut it off and started it again and now cannot get any audio after numerous power cycles. Just for peace of mind I plugged the stock stereo back in and had audio again. Could my factory amp not be receiving a good enough signal? (Yes I wired the remote turn on wire when I installed it last week.) I cannot think of any other reason why I can't hear sound. Suggestions? I've installed a couple dozen head units over the past 12 years, and I've never run into this before. Thanks guys!

It appears as though you do need to wire in the pink wire from the smaller harness. I spliced that wire with the remote wire from my head unit to the aftermarket harness. All is well in music land now!

Xypher,

I'm experiencing a similar issue. I have sound, but its very quiet.

I just want to clarify what you have done. I'm assuming the harness you are talking about you purchased or it came with your new head unit?

My harness came with the GMOS-04 so I can keep my on-star, and I too have the smaller harness but nothing connecting to it.

The remote wire (blue&white) from the head unit I have connected to the same blue and white wire that is on the larger harness that came with the GMOS.

From what you have described, you took the pink wire from the new smaller harness and spliced it with the blue&white remote wire from the head unit, but do you also have the blue&white wire from the larger harness connected to that as well?

I've installed many a stereo myself, never ran into this issue before. So I'm hoping what you have done will resolve my issue. Thanks.

I spliced 3 wires together: remote wire from stereo, remote wire from aftermarket harness, and the pink wire from the flat 9 pin connector. Once I wired in the pink wire, I haven't had a single issue since. To clarify, I was either getting full sound or none. All my speakers were blown, and once I replaced them everything's been great.

Thanks for the response Xypher. My issue was related to the wrong harness being sent to me(BOSE version).
