Intermittent transmission issue?

Low enough can cause symptoms but unsure if 1.5 low is enough. The trans fluid should have been hot when checked and on level ground. I don't think that the .5 over fill will cause a problem. May be a leak of if looks dry could be swapping to the transfer case. A proper diagnostic is needed, likely not by the same guy who said to add 2 quarts and go from there.

A transmission does not consume tranny fluid just like an engine doesnt consume coolant. If its low, it went somewhere and it did that because there is a leak. Is your transfer case overfilled even though you didnt fill it? The front seal on a transfer case is designed to keep the fluid in but it wont prevent fluid from getting into the transfer case because the transmission rear seal is leaking and allowing that fluid to get to the tcase front seal under some slight pressure.
