Hello Everyone,

It is about time for me to replace my currently battery (it has never been done in this truck). I am looking for some suggestions. I have a 2009 LTZ stock, with all but 2 factory options. I live in the midwest, and drive 6-10k miles a year. In reading it looks like everyone here likes the yellow top optima battery.

Since my car is stock and I plan on keeping i that way, Is there any advantage to a yellow or red optima? (if yellow is recommend, what part number)

Will it last any longer than a parts store battery? If so long enough to be worth the cost?

Just trying to decide if the extra $$ is worth the money for me, I do not have any plans on getting rid of the car.

Thanks for the help!

Like you have found, some say yes and others say no. I live in the PNW and my Denali is still stockish when it comes to power demands. I myself don't see the need for it. If your not going to mount it upside down in some hidden compartment I would save your money.

That is what I am starting to wonder.

Only other addition, but I don't think it will make an impact, I use remote start often in the cold and heat.

Basically, If turns out I can spend $60 more on an optima, to get a additional 2-3 years over the 4-5 I get out of a parts store battery, it would be worth it to me.

I've had 2 red tops for almost 4 yrs without any problems, and my system beats on them pretty bad.

When I was just using one my truck had a shorter cranking time. about 1.5 mississippi's, even in the cold.

I have been doing some more reading around on this forum and others. It looks like the general info, is that Optima was very well rate and built till the moved manufacturing to Mexico (since them it is hit or miss). 2 other makes that seem to come highly recommended are Odyssey (cost more than optima), and Interstate (cost is on par with parts store batteries).

Also seems that Johnson Controls makes several of the main brands of batteries these days, and mainly Mexico.

I am using a Yellow top on my 2013 Silverado. I like the Yellow tops since I typically run accessories like sound systems and ect. Part Number 34/78 Dual Terminal
