Is it me or... (edit) powered sub?

Ive had an 2005 ls with bose for years and just this week got a 2010 lt with bose. this is where I'm not sure what's going on, the 05 bose sounds sooo much better and I can crank the radio and still have a great sound. the 10 bose sounds horrible in comparison it's not a clear, it has a hollow tone and gets distorted past the half mark when I can max out the 05 without the distortion.

I assumed the newer version of the system would be as good or better.
is this not true ?
any way to fix this without spending a fortune? I'd like to just keep it stock but it's kinda annoying haha

Would these be a decent replacement

It's not just you. The LT Bose system (non-premium) is terrible. I test drove a few Suburbans with that system before I got my 09 LTZ with the Bose premium, which still isn't wonderful, but much more tolerable.

Those Infinitys look good. I'm a big fan of Infinity speakers, I've put Kappas in most of my previous vehicles.

+1 on the Kappas, though just about anything will be an upgrade to the issues you have now.

Good luck with your decision.

I always heard good things about Kappas. Would need to hear in person. I'm big on the german brands (Helix). My girls bose in 01 Murano is way better with less speakers. Only advantage is 2 8" subs in the trunk. Not sure why Chevy on a newer bigger truck would only opt for 1.

Thanks.

I've got a 12" infinity sub and amp but it's just sitting in storage, I'm also an infinity guy. Ive been out of the audio field for a few years now and have forgotten lots of the audio stuff haha. I'll probably just stick with the ones I posted since I'm on a budget and I don't need super high end sound like I used to haha must be getting old  as long as they perform better then stock I should be happy.

Edited to not start another thread.

So I'm probably going to get the mid 6.5 Rockfords for the doors and was just looking around and saw the powered subs.

How would a powered 8" sub work in the tahoes I'm not needing the 12" sub bass (so it's sitting in the closet) anymore but just wondered if this is a decent item to hide somewhere.??.

This probably won't fit where the oem one is correct?

Thanks. Yea that mtx jl $ tag kills it for me. I figured for the price of the rockford would give me a touch better bass then oem. While keeping it compact/hidden.

Hmm that ebay one is tempting.. I do have an infinity amp just taking up space...

I've always wondered what these console boxes sound like. Do they fill out the SUV with bass? Does it rattle the interior more than say a regular box in the rear? Speaking of regular box, does it beat out a jl microwedge / prowedge or kicker / Rockford cab box behind third row? Decisions decisions decisions.
