clay wont remove the oxidized OEM clear coat thats on them.
Ultimatly thats what you want to do is remove that coating, polish up the unprotected plastic then recoat them with some form of clear coat. Theres numerous types out there...

I have been wanting to try some "optimum , opti coat" on a set of lights I have laying around to see how it performs on headlights.

Plan on sanding, polishing, coating then let them sit on my house roof for a couple months in direct sunlight to see how it holds up..

The stuff looks very promising.

Thanks Ezdaar, I actually have a pair of old faded headlights from my old car. I will try it on them first to see if it works. Its a little pricey but still cheaper then getting 2 new head lights

once the clear coat oxidizes you can sand and buff and they will look almost new, but it will not last long and need to be performed regularly or it will cloud again. headlight restoring kits are the same deal.
A application of clear coat after sand/buff will keep them looking good,Rattle can clear isnt the best. I would recommend a 2k urethane clear coat, if you don't own or have access to spray equipment , go to a body shop and have them spray them.

SW CT,
mine on my '07 have started to show signs of fading/clouding...I went out and bought a Mother's headlight restoration kit...came with a plastic polish, small powerball, some sandpaper, microfiber towel. I just ended up using the plastic polish and powerball in a drill, made a marked improvement...I heard that after you do this you need to seal them with a wax or you will be redoing them more often.

This is a good idea. I'll be picking up some of this at autozone next time i'm there and will see if it works or not.
