WELL.......
The Plan today was to mate the Trans to the block and get the motor welded in.
Beings that I did not want to learn how to rebuild a transmission for the first time on the wifes build, I took it to a well known tranny builder 30 miles away in Fremont,MN.

I used my engine puller to get the 700r4 cleaned up. Since it came out of an 84 Camaro that was in a wreck. I wanted to make sure that the bellhousing didnt have any hidden cracks in it, or pan bolts stripped.

Someone before me had taken the tailhousing off an cut the output shaft down to 1.5". I dont know what the hell they planned on putting it in or what they were thinking.

One good thing about this trans is, it does have the 30 spline input shaft vs the 27 spline. All 27 spline input shaft 700r4's were out of the v6 camaros. They started doing the stronger 30 spline input shafts in mid 84 for the v8's. Stick with me@Jonah52[URL]:laughing1: [ATTACH=f...along..... Hope that trans is done tomorrow!

Guy called me this morning to come get the trans......
Now.... the reason it took so long is that,
The bellhousing had multiple minor fractures ( so they had to find a donor)
Valvebody springs were all rusty and when they put fluid through them they just broke from being brittle.
They went through 3 pump bodies before they found one that would act right with the set-up I requested.
4 of the pan bolts that go into the tranny were either broke or stripped (so i would of needed a new case anyway).
The filter housing that goes behind the pump body had to be milled out .035 to accommodate the upgrade that the 84' 700r4 lacked.

So the end results :uploadfromtaptalk1450544376979.jpg
New HD pump
Kevlar clutch plates
Advanced valve body to make torque converter lock up in 4th gear so no wiring harness is needed
Billet Vette Servo
New Case
1st,2nd and 3rd bands were hardened and shaved. Burning of the bands was a big prob in 83 to 85 because of electronic failure on Lock-up
@Jonah52 You still with me?

Now today, i will put the adapter kit on to hook up the Dana 20 Transfer case and mate all these components together!
GAME ON!!!!!!!
