Here is the other head, pre final smoothing but degreased to check the head gasket fitment.

Money spent on the AFR heads is more of a "better safe than sorry" approach.
+ if we want to use the Tahoe for our trip, I'm pretty much out of time to test the engine.
I have time to break it in, two oil changes, and we are outta here with a

Anyone have experience with full roller rockers?
I just did some rough math.

Assuming i understand this correctly,
The cam i have has a rough .550 lift, so divide that by 1.7, then times that by the ratio to get the actual cam lift.
so it looks like with 1.8 ratio, I'll get .582 lift.

:hmmm2:

Prime day deal, looks to be a self priming fuel transfer pump.
says not "explosion proof" but the reviews say it works great for gas. :)

So i need to remove the regular out of that tank.
I also need to remove old fuel from my motorhome project.
I figure, remove old, put tahoe gas into motorhome.
check!

finally got one of the heads out of the box this morning.

Titanium has such a pretty dull glow.

I also noticed the rear steam port vents are drilled through.
Not sure if i just plug those, or do i need to pickup the correct vent kit...

Meh, i found a cheapish kit on amazon that looks like it should fit the bill.

I'll just plan on replacing the bolts for something a bit better.

Did your stock heads not have block offs? I know some do and some don't. Just block them off and roll with it

stock heads as far as i know weren't drilled through on the back.
or they have plugs hammered in there.
I'll check before i do the final install, if i can remove the plugs then i'll double em up if it allows me.

those amazon plugs say they will be good for a delivery tomorrow.
so here is hoping.

and going through those AFR heads, i didn't like the flash around the coolant passage ways.
so i carefully took a file and removed the flaky edges.
I also noticed some sharp edges around the sparkplug hole into the chamber.

For those i took a small screwdriver and carefully scraped the corner off.
Looks much better.

I'll do another once over before the final install, I don't want any flashing or flakes making their way into the engine.
