Just got Her Back from the Body Shop

SHE'S ALIVE!

I do have pics of tearing her down. But really none of putting back together. The shop closed at 6. We started working on her around 5:30 and had her running by 9. Tomorrow have to fill her up with antifreeze, clear the codes and let her run for a bit. May have to adjust the Distributor a bit. Then install the MSD ignition. The reaon why We didn't do it right off the bat is god forbid it doesn't run right we wouldn't have to worry if it was the MSD Ignition System. Did a compression and 3 cranks she was right up to 180 and holding! Can't wait to have her back for a lil before I send her to the bodyshop to get the dent fixed in my roll pan and goodmark steel cowl hood painted and installed!

BB Tune in August can't come any sooner!

But I will post pics when its all said and done hopefully tomorrow. She needs a good cleaning from sitten in the shop for 2 n half weeks collecting dust.

what exactly is a bb tune? Whats it do and why do you do it? Whats it stand for?

Well I bought 2 sets of heads.

One was from a TX and they were milled for $555 shipped to my door. I got them in NOV. and I never opened the box till it was time to do the Heads.
The heads were the biggest POS! They were cracked and welded. The welds were ****** and I recall correctly there were 5-6 valves that were sleeved. The Mill Job was horrendous! Just the quality was so damm poor! I call the guy (he owns Langston Machine Shop and Exhuast in Texas) and he told me to install them. Said no way and he hung up. I called my CC Company American Express and I filed a dispute. Actually today I have to send AA a letter from the machine shop that did my new heads why the one's sent to me were no good and pics as well. The reason I went this route is b/c I wanted no down time, as soon as I graduated from college I wanted to rip her apart and fix her. I don't like CEL's they scare me. If the CEL is on for one thing...you may never know its on for another and it could be big problems. You know how many cars I've seen at the shop we say you need an 02 sensor or something else and the customer comes back a few months later for inspection. They say O do the 02 sensor thats bad so I can pass meanwhile its the 02 sensor and a few other things. People freak...I remember one customer just needed an 02 Sensor and neglected it for over a year. She got into a accident where she was side swiped and the person fled the scene. Well the cop was kind enough to tell here that the whole accident would have been voided b.c he car was uninspected. She flew to shop and told us to change the 02 Sensor, we pulled codes she had so much shit...02 sensors, knock sensors...a few other things...came out to $1,200 She was not happy but her Maxima with almost 200,000 miles runs like a champ.

2nd set cost me $280. WHich was my old heads (uncracked...Thank God b/c its common for our heads to crack in certain area). That was for a 3 Angle Valve Job, New Springs (Shimmed), and Heavier Set of Retainers (Incase If I decide to Cam it but I doubt it. Just did it incase one I want too). The 3 Angle and Shimmed Springs bump up the compression too. :)

Gasket set was $80 and 2 bolt sets were $50.

I had a misfire in #5 Cyl. and it was causing #3 and #7 to misfire, only at idle. As soon I would give it gas in normal driving the misfire would go away. But as soon as it would idle the misfire would shake the whole truck. ALOT OF PEOPLE THOUGHT THAT I CAMMED IT. Thats how choppy the exhuast was at idle. Every 16 yr. old wanted to race me at night. Plus my inspection expired at the end of May so it needed to be done anyway.

Of course I helped...thats why it took so long! Lol.
This was beyond my Mechanical Knowledge so I all I did was help tear here down, do cleaning (engine bay, pistons, LIM, UIM, and a ton of ****** bolts on the wiz wheel which has some of my skin on it). As for as putting her back together just helping them bolts down the heads (some places it was hard to see where to stop turning so they were bolted to spec and holding the Degree tool to make sure it doesn't shift while bolting it down to spec) handing tools, parts, helping them remember were some stuff went. I do have a bracket left over. I'll post pics of it...maybe you guys can locate it for me.

P.S. this was the reason why I got the truck so cheap for. $3k with 97k on it, thats fully loaded with leather n heated seats that was this past August. Why the misfire, the truck needed a tune-up due to a misfire in the first place. The owner neglected to do it due to financial reasons, when they had the funds for a tune-up, they had it done and it still misfired. The valves were leaking air aka they fully weren't closing. We did this by sending air thru the Cylinders with a glove over the TB and bam the glove blew up. We re-confirmed it by putting water in the chambers of the head and 3-4 of them leaked!

PICS WILL BE POSTED OF BUILD! Dying to see the difference in MSD Ignition mated with e3's in Start-UP and MPG. SHE NEEDS TO BE CLEANED BADLY dust! From sitten inside the shop! YUCK!

Black bear Tune. PM Jenna here as she is co-owner and operator along with her husband Justin. THE BEST THING you do fro your Hoe even if its stock to modded! Cuz if you MOD it you can send out your PCM to get re-tuned for FREE EVERYTIME! I do suggest going to a LIVE tuning session for maxium accuracy! Thats what I'm doing! Forget Hypertach, Predator, any other tuning device, and aftermaket Chip. THIS IS the ULTIMATE WAY to smoothin your ride, and make all the MODS you do really perform.

Why I choose BB...B/c Justin and Jenna are both active on the boards. Very contributing to questions asked, even outside of tuning. I want to run E-Fans in my OBS, BB is the company that I know that sells a kit so the E-fans are wired into our PCM's so they function like stock fans. No need to worry about forgetting to turn them ON or Off. I've read to many horror stories of forgetting to turn them on and the keys are locked inside. After the owner finally realizes he has to break the window to get...he does...its to late the motor overheated! PLUS NUMEROUS PEOPLE VOUCH FOR THEM! Their QUALITY of work and QUANTITY of outstanding reviews is un-matched.

WHOOP SHE'S HOME IN DRIVEWAY WHERE SHE BELONGS! On her maiden voyage home she threw a CEL, we thought b/c possible he distributor was installed wrong. Either way she passed inspection before that. I took her back to the shop and pulled the Code its for an 02 Sensor. Then on 2nd attempt back home the rear started to grind...I need rear brake shoes. So I'll tackle those two on Monday and install my MSD!

Next is Body shop for dent and cowl hood unless Its true that their LT and ORY Kit for OBS like someone posted!

Will post pics when I get a chance. Hopefully by tonight...some are on my cell...some on the camera.

Yup...Heads work perfect...3rd gear got alot quicker. I haven't gunned it from the get go yet...still wanna be easy on her. Get everything all lubed up and brioken in. Don;t forget my engine has 104k on it.

E3's worked instantly. She fires up right away. Insead of turning the key and hearing rev sound and start. Now its turn key and BOOM. I didn't even install the MSD yet.

Look likes Cowl Hood and Dent in the roll pan next.

MO FO!

I threw a CEL, we thought it could be possibley the distributor due to a few things that made the installation of it sketchy when installing the heads.

But last night, I just had this funny feeling about it and I was quite aggrevated and anxious to see wtf is wrong after I spent all this time and $$$ to get rid of this ***** thing and some. SO I call up my buddy and pull codes. Ended up being an 02 sensor. Ahh Ok... thats cool I guess. So then I leave my buddies house and I hit the brakes and I hear grinding : (.

I thought it was coming from the rear. I kinda suspected it since when I first got the Hoe I knew the rears were almost done and fronts had alot of meat left on it. I call him up and I ask if its ok that I wait till Monday and bring it to the shop and fix. He says fine...either way now you need Drums and Shoes. Now its like ****...I was asking for it. At the time (Caddy Front End Conversion, rims, drop, exhuast or Rear drums and shoes).

So I wake up early before work and head to the shop. Cuz I'm not a big fan of grinding. We ordered the Drums and Shoes and they came LATE! I was unable to get them therefor not install them before I had work at 10am! So I get a call around 3ish that the Hoe's up on the lift and there about to take the wheels off.

1) My left rear axel seal is leaking (need a new one)
2) The grinding sound was coming from my right FRONT caliper. Rotor as scared (duh) and The caliper was frozen. (He was able to unfreeze the four pins but suggested that I get new one's.
3) My rear shoes have life left in it...but not that much.

Let the rant begin! **** SUCKIN MOTHER ***** AUTOMECHANIC GOD! THIS PAST MONTH HAS BEEN FUKING HELL! I thought things were getting better (good deal on cowl hood, msd ignition and built heads) then you go back to ******* ME AFTER that!

So anyway...

For piece of mind I'm just going to order two new front calipers, regular rotors and pads. Truck stopped fine before that. No need to go C.D. & S Rotors on 15's (shhhh) and meaty tires. But I am going to upgrade to stainless steel brakelines. My rims cover the rotor too soo there goes the show aspect of it as well as appeal of it.

Anyone have these?

recharge/fix my A/C. When I got the truck the A/C never worked. I don't use A/C at all. But sometimes it is needed now that we all travel together in the Hoe as a family since it fits us all well. I don't know if it needs a recharge or there is a leak and that needs to be fixed! That will be taken care on Monday as well. And backseat lovin.

AND MY ***** ABS LIGHT IS STILL ON! SAME CODE FOR THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCHED THAT I REPLACED LESS THEN A YEAR AGO. Due to not all my brake lights (third), and random turn signals. Now it all works fine but the code still shows up. ANY REASON WHY?

Bahhh looking foward to blowing this weeks paycheck on body work n *******!

Still need to get my rear roll pan fixed from the 2nd hit and run and LED light replaced from the hit and run. As well as my Goodmark Hood painted.

Now its just gonna sit in the box and call my name for the next 2-3 weeks! :(

O well I just got an e-mail that I they accepted my offer for $37.00. Guess there quick over there. I put the offer in before I typed this post. Guess another write-up will do.
I was going to ask you guys if you wanted to do a GB to lessen the cost. Guess you can do it without me!

O yeah forgot to mention I'm picking up 4 07 Caddillac Eacalade Headrests with Caddy Emblem stiched into it on Monday for $50. Its gonna be the worst 50 I spent with all this other shit going on! I was anticipating my Double Din FB install project as well as the TV's in Headrests and My Name custom stiched over the caddy emblems.
