Just joined up, Tune up Questions on Vortec 5.7 in my 96 Tahoe

Hey guys, just joined up and my Hoe is running bad. It runs great at low rpm cruise speeds but when you get it under a load, its setting off the CEL and throwing a random multiple cylinder misfire code.

My main question would be what brand parts should I buy to do a complete tune up on my 5.7 Vortec engine?
I have read different opinions on this so I am hoping that there is a common agreement on what is the best stock OEM replacement parts to use?
Here is the list of the 8 things I want to change first off. I have already looked these items over any they all look to be overdue for a change.
1.Distributor Cap
2.Rotor Button
3.Plug Wires
4.Spark Plugs
5.Fuel Filter
6.Air Filter
7.Engine Oil
8.Engine Oil Filter
The Hoe is my daily driver and I want to be sure and use only the good stuff on this tune up. Any help/guidance is greatly appreciated.

1.Distributor Cap - AC Delco
2.Rotor Button - not sure what this is...?
3.Plug Wires - AC Delco
4.Spark Plugs - AC Delco (go with premium and check index prior to install)
5.Fuel Filter - AC Delco
6.Air Filter - I run aftermarket, but I would imagine any quality brand would suffice
7.Engine Oil - Mobile 1 - if you run conventional, stick with conventional...if you use synthetic, stick with synthetic; don't switch!
8.Engine Oil Filter - Mobile 1

I personally use AC Delco for all my stock parts and I've never had an issue with the quality of their work...plus you know it was tailored made for your rig! All good quality oils will do, but I personally prefer Mobile 1.

With a little bit of research, you can definitely do all this work yourself...it's pretty easy on our rigs! AC Delco has a page on Amazon and I've gotten some incredible deals through them.

Also, with the amount of work you're doing with the tuneup, you should definitely flush your brake system and possibly change pads & shoes while you're at it.

If you've never bled your brakes before, I highly recommend inviting a buddy over who has and grab a case. Bleeding brakes is really easy, but it's also easy to get air in your system which could spell disaster...just be on the safe side.

I am pretty much sure I am going with all AC/Delco parts but I found this ACCEL TST3 Super Ignition Tune UP Kit on Amazon for $146.90 with free shipping. It includes the Distributor Cap, Rotor Button, Spark Plugs and Plug Wires. Just wondering if this kit would be an upgrade from the OEM AC/Delco stuff or would I be wasting money on it?

Funds are short this month due to Christmas being right around the corner but I plan to do a brake job on the Hoe also but it will have to wait till after the Holidays have passed. Tahoe budget right now is very tight.

On the oil and filter, I normally use Castrol or Valvoline and the Pure One gold filters.
What is the best weight oil to use in my 5.7 Vortec? I was thinking about 10w 40 dino oil.

I added a couple :) coil and injector assembly. Otherwise, these are all the parts I have used. I'm happy with everything.

1.Distributor Cap = MSD
2.Rotor Button = MSD
3.Coil = MSD
4.Plug Wires = MSD
5.Spark Plugs = ACDelco
6.Fuel Filter = factory replacement or quality aftermarket
7.Air Filter = K&N or the like
8.Engine Oil = Amsoil
9.Engine Oil Filter = Amsoil

Another common issue is the spider injection. Which may be a result of your misfire.

One item I buy for all my vehicles are speedbleeders. It makes bleeding your brakes a one man job and cuts its time in half or more. Though they do make some nice bleeding kits, hah.

As for what oil to use, whatever grade is recommended from the factory is what I use. As long as you keep up with it its all good.

edit: ACCEL makes some nice stuff. If you plan on going aftermarket I'd stick with MSD. Just my .02 :)

sounds like to me your having a spider injector issue wether it has a broken injector straw or a dead injector i would recomend having it scanned to see why n whats causeing it

I scanned it and found only these two codes.
PO300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire
Code P1406 - EGR valve pintel position circuit

sounds like to me your having a spider injector issue wether it has a broken injector straw or a dead injector i would recomend having it scanned to see why n whats causeing it

OK went and priced all ACDelco parts for the tune up.
Spark Plugs
Distributor Cap
Rotor Button
Plug wires

Came to $277.49 at Advance Auto without tax....

Can get the same parts in ACCEL as a Ignition Tune Up Kit for $146.90 through Summit Racing/Ebay store.

Anyone out there running the ACCEL Super Kit on their Vortec and how has it done? Its over a 100 bucks savings for the ACCEL kit.

if you go advanced auto, there are coupon codes everywhere and you should get at LEAST 20% off....
