The pics and description explain each. syntha max is the drop in filter. Cad is an open box. mxp is open box with ram air tube. The best in my opinion is the airaid junior. Look for it on advanced auto parts website. Google coupon code and u can save $50. I think I paid 129 for Jr kit with filter shipped to my door.

So with the Airaid Junior you will use the stock filter box?

So what are the differences between these two:

I called Airaid myself.
The 201 is with the new synthetic filter that does not need be cleaned.
The 200 you need to oil after you cleaned it.
Performance is the same.
I will go for the 201 from Amazon for 282 US$.
The K&N filter system is on its way already to Norway, but there will be no problem selling that one over here.

I agree with 06MC5.3L, but it all depends on the person. My buddy hates my MIT because it doesnt look at "cool" as an open filter. He would rather loose some HP to have it look nicer under the hood.

I will say tho, I wouldnt ever pay for anything K&N. It is WAY over priced and usually the quality is not that of other brands.

If you want the look of K&N and want to pay under $160 look at spectre air intakes. I know you can buy them at my local autozone for about $150. I love my airaid jr MIT kit and really like the closed box.

Looking back at this thread.
So you are saying that a closed box system is better than an open filter?

Yes it is. The difference is minimal on a curve...maybe 3-5 hp difference, but it is there for sure. Some argue that open sucks hot air in, which is true, but once you are moving the hot air is not as hot, so it would mostly hold true when accelerating from a stop. Blackbear tested a bunch of intakes on the nnbs with the dyno and the closed box airaid jr had the best overall outcome on performance.

So the open airfilter I have gives less hp than the original stock box?

The stock box, yes. The stock intake system, no. The tube that goes from the box to the intake that has all of the baffles in it is where you lose performance, they make the intake quieter but suck for airflow. If you look at all of the numbers on blackbear's test, I think the Volant will have the best gain if tuned correctly. It has the lowest intake air temperature and a better fuel air ratio, and it only made one less ft. lb. of torque and the same hp as the airaid. The Volant system has a box though also it is not just an open air setup, but the box has a lot more room to breath.
