What was deciding factor that made you to go with shorty headers? was it the clearance issue?

It was a combination of things. Clearance being the biggest. I didn't want to run the risk of dragging the collectors on everything plus long tubes make everything more of a hassle to work on... spark plugs, starters, etc.

Plus I came across the super deal I did on the exact headers I had been looking at.

Also everyone runs long tubes and the basic consensus is that shortys are a waste of time and money.

I have never been one to just blindly follow the crowd so I wanted to see if it was possible to see a real, seat of the pants, noticeable difference in the way the truck runs. So I tried it and at least with my setup and new Y-pipe it made a noticeable improvement.

Of course one could argue that long tubes and 2.25" pipes would make even more power, I don't know for sure... but I'm happy.

Big thanks to @mazdawg(Mikey) !!!

He not only allowed me to "borrow" (read steal) his idea for the door handles but he also facilitated it by sending me the precut vinyl.

Finally got around to installing them today...

I've been kicking around different ideas for a muffler. Been looking at Gibson and Magnaflow mostly.

Finally decided on a big body 3 chamber from Magnaflow. Just purchased, should be here next week.

I just hope I'm happy with the sound. I hate buying stuff like this without being able to hear it first.

Time will tell I suppose.
