Hey everyone ,

Wondering if anyone else has had this issue with there keys locking inside the vehicle( 2021 Tahoe ).

With the vehicle locked my wife on a few occasions has opened the trunk loaded the back and put her bag w/ keys inside the trunk and closed it only to be locked out entirely. Has anyone experienced that? I thought the vehicle wouldn’t allow the keys to be locked inside. Thanks in advance

ah the joys of keyless.... haven't heard this myself, just another reason to have a keyed ignition though.
my guess is with the fob being in a bag or whatever it doesn't have enough signal for the vehicle to read it and thinks you have walked away.

What a pain! I have been wondering about this issue. Like, if I am sitting in the vehicle with the engine running, doors locked, and key fob in my pocket, can someone walk up and open my door?

You can roll down your window and give it a test.

shouldn't unless you are parked and have the unlock feature set to unlock in park, or have it set to not lock at all. you can set all that stuff in the vehicle settings

When I first got my yukon it would lock the doors a few seconds after closing. Almost got locked out my self, but you can turn it off it the settings section.

Whenever I have left a key in the vehicle and locked the door from the outside, it honks 3 times at me and will not lock.
If you are sitting inside with the fob and the door locked, no one from the outside can actuate the locks unless they have the other fob.

I have this same experince, but have never attempted it with the tailgate being the final door to close...
I think the OP said his wife got out of the driver seat, locked the doors, then opened the lift gate, put her keys inside, and closed the liftgate; and got no warning, and it was locked in.

Our 2022 Denali gives me three quick horn honks and I am not always sure why. It does it when my Wife leaves her purse (with her key fob) in the car. I get that. But it has given me the three quick honks a couple of other times and I have wondered what it is trying to tell me.

You walk away w/ vehicle in Acc or On position, and take your key with you, then she will "chirp" at you.
