SSF on, where is bass boost, gain?
it's at like +14 but the overall gain is only at like +2 +4 i think I haven't looked at it in a while unless someone else messed with it. It's always the same side. The speaker is really hot then it freezes up. I don't think it's getting enough air because of how close the insulation and the tube is to the back of the speaker.

but when it does work how loud is it
It's so loud it rattles shit loose, like 3 dash lights lights have went out, the center overhead console has had the screw come out like 3 times. The vents in the back throw out so much air. I will say it's way louder inside, the hoe has pretty good stock insulation, but dynomat is your friend.

back the bass boost down, and readjust the gain. If insulation is hampering airflow to the coil, it could cause it to heat. But the bass boost IMHO isn't helping either. If it's the same side, it could be heat, or that side has more pressure on it. Depending on the yeyar of the woofer will determine if it has a pole piece vent or parameter venting.

Hey Coop.....do L7s! I did my own box for my two (2) Cvrs (15s) with four (4) 4" round ports (pvc) and I only have about 1350 watts going to them, and it beats the hell out of the Hoe! You should go with four (4) twelves, and two (2) 2000 watt amps, big 3, & ** alt! It will be enough to make you want to puke!! I like Skip and all.....but you might pay out the ass for what you are wanting.......I'm just saying!

yeah i know its probably going to be pricey im going to do 2 12s and a 1500 then later on possibly adding 2 more and another 1500 my mom said she saw a tahoe on rims might be yours or meangreens or somebody else?? she didnt remeber what color it was

I apologize in advance for possibly derailing the thread.

Okay, all you Kicker freaks. Question for you: Running stock speakers right now, have a Pioneer Avic F700BT. Was looking at Kicker 07DS600's to replace the front doors for now. (Plan is to possibly move them to the back and put components up front along with an amp down the road). Crutchfield has them on sale for $40 a pair. I see a lot of people talk about the KS series, not the DS. Should I avoid?

blue: I install them still...but that is neither here nor there. I had a huge point and counterpoint written up, but as we have both said, you can't force someone to agree with you. Especially when their own personal experiences tell them differently.

You like em, they are what you are used to. Judges used to like MBQs too... of course it never hurt that MBQuart supplied all the judges with a 'home' refernce system... which had the MBQ's as speakers. Somhow after that over bright tweeter s and hollow mids became 'Sq'. Sometimes right or wrong, you like what you are used to. More power to ya and everyone else.!

I wold however love a link to some of the IASCA Sq regionals etc that Kicker has been winning, because I have not seen this reported anywhere, even on the kicker website itself. I've heard a lot about H.A.T. this year, and i had heard a good bit about DLS a couple of years ago, and before that, Dyns... but nothing Kicker.

Would you be so kind as to pm me a link or two? I know my neighbor the Kicker fanatic would get a Kick out of it (pun intended) and maybe he'd actually finishthe darn thing.

I know when we attended IASCA when it was in Perry, GA in a sheep barn, we'd take our own home pro audio gear and the SQ guys would use that as a reference, then sit and adjust in cars.
Back in the early 90's, SQ was huge and SPL was still virgin to many. It's been a huge swing since then, to mostly no SQ and all SPL, streetbeat, bassrace, etc.
So back then, we had a team of about 20-25 top SQ guys, clear up until Gary and Mark worked here directly, building demo cars. At the time, late 90's till early 2001ish, Gary worked for Car Toys in Tulsa, Ok.
So with that swing in car attendance, the switch to SPL was taken. But there was SQ done at these events, like SBN (spring break nationals) and our guys won, Markey Dietrich, Chad Romano, etc. Then at NOPI in Atlanta, Tim and Alison Brown, Cory Himel, etc woud win there.
The Team Kicker was official put to rest over a year ago, right after dbDrag 2007. News reports were on Kicker.com and with the ever changing news and things we get into, it's fallen off the headlines.
SQ (IASCA) is slowly coming back, but due to economic hardship, NOPI in Atlanta (where they hold IASCA world finals) was cancelled last year, so they moved WF to SBN in Daytona 2010. And we have cars in build for it, but IASCA fell off the radar because of this in 2009. The SPL/SQ split is still about 90/10, more leaned towards SPL. But it's slowly coming back. But i will dig thru archives and see what headlines ai can pull out.

Peace man, sorry to sound or come off like a fan, but when i first started and the company was 16 employees and it's turned into what it is over the last 21 years, I take it to heart. :) But no harm was ever intended.

sorry Mike, missed this.

The DS is a great upgrade if you never plan to amplify them. They run off the stock power, and sound alot better than stock. If you plan to add an amp later, step up to the KS.

yes, if you know you won't, the DS is perfect, we sell a BUNCH of them. Simple upgrade, then most don't feel the need to add amp. Easier to start off small (inexpensive) and go up.
