Large case alt,vs small?

Looks like the electrics are different. For an extra $150 your getting 'propietary' electrics vs standard diodes in the cheaper one.

What does that mean? They both put out 270 amps at the top end of the rpm band, but the propietary electrics (probably bigger/more diodes) give you more amps at lower rpms throughout the entire rpm band.

For example, if you want an extra 10 amps at idle, then be prepared to fork over the extra $150.


EDIT: I couldn't find warranty info? I'm asking because higher temps is a byproduct of higher AMPs. As you get more/bigger diodes/bigger windings more heat is generated that has to be dissapated. The bigger case helps that somewhat, but the life of the ALT is reduced as the heat buildup occurs. That's why the Maybach cars ALTs are liquid cooled. So I was curious about warranty differences between the two...

well im asking if it will fit my original alt location? regaurd less of what alt i had in the first place(large or small case)
