They are worth it in the longrun if u think about it. Lets say u can save 4 tickets in a year lets say each ticket is $250 it pays for itself in 2 years so id rather have something i can use then have shit on my record and give away loot... O and yea houston and dallas are the same peopel go over the limit and the cops dont care unless u got like way faster

If you get rear-ended while driving the limit in Utah you could get a ticket for going too slow. Iirc, it's something like ”Failure to drive the flow of traffic.” My source on that is Detective Duffy with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office.

I can just see Detective Duffy in court telling a judge and a jury that someone who was hit from behind while driving the speed limit is guilty of "failure to drive the flow of traffic" because everyone else was going twenty miles over the speed limit. Yeah, right, Detective Duffy.

Detective Duffy seems to think someone who doesn't break the law is the guilty party. Geez, I've had my laugh for the week, and it's only Sunday morning.

4 tickets isnt much. Stuff happens and well yea you get a ticket but it doesnt get suspended for 4 minor tickets. Dwi and dui now thats the suspension

Apparently you don't get it. So, let me break it down as simply as I can. The rule about the speed limit is, first the rate of speed everybody else is going, second the posted speed limit. Yes, Utah has the same standard speed limit laws all the other states in the country have, and this is where your simple mind is stuck. You're not paying attention to the other law that talks about safely driving according to the conditions. Other conditions does apply to surrounding motorists on the roads. So, yes, I can see Detective Duffy saying the person driving the speed limit was at fault because they weren't driving safely. In fact, I've seen it. It played out in southern Utah on I-15. Eventually, going the posted limit got so dangerous that UDOT increased they posted limit to 80. What happened next? For the first year of this increased speed limit UDOT monitored traffic citations and accidents. Casualties, fatalities, and the number of total accidents declined. The ”safely” part is where you are failing to grasp the concept. Safely refers to the same rate of speed everybody else was. It's no different than everybody doing 65 in a 65 but the slow car was doing 50, thus being rear-ended. It's just the way the law was written. If you are going to argue, come up with one that doesn't compare Texas law to Utah law.

There's no such thing as a properly calibrated speedo. The moment that car starts driving all bets are off. Tire wear affects speedo accuracy. So does temperature. Even GM acknowledges this. If you sniff around www.gmfleet.com and look up the Tahoe for police agencies you will find a document that tells the police agencies the Tahoe speedo variation is +/-2mph @ 60mph @ 72°F. That's brand new everything. I wonder if GM has a notice about the same thing for all of its cars. I've never checked.
